AnalogFolk's Ete Davies heads to Engine for top creative role

AnalogFolk's Ete Davies brought in to replace Matt Edwards as chief exec of creative and experience deisgn

AnalogFolk's managing director, Ete Davies, is leaving for Engine to pick up the role of chief exec of its creative and experience design division.

He joins Engine during a tumultuous time for its new leadership team, as two out of six members have already stepped down since its January restructure.

The restructure saw it consolidate WCRS, Partners Andrews Aldridge, Trailer Park, Synergy, Slice and NuFu into Engine, creating a new leadership team as a consequence.

Davies has been brought in to replace Matt Edwards who was named chief exec of Engine's creative and experience design upon the restructure in January. He resigned at the end of June after 14 years at the agency. His departure followed that of Simon Peck, another Engine veteran who quit as managing director in May after just four months in the role.

Reporting to Engine's European chief exec, Jim Moffatt, Davies will join the agency in September.

Until then, he will continue his role as managing director at AnalogFolk, which he took up six months after joining the independent agency in 2015.

During his four year tenure at AnalogFolk, Davies has led the expansion of the London office and its acquisition of Nike and Danone as clients.

Before that he was with AKQA for over three years. After joining as global programme director on the Nike account, he was promoted to head of delivery, North America, Europe, Asia.

Davies is particularly outspoken on the drive for diversity, inclusion and equality across the creative industries. He is the co-founder of WeAreStripes and founder of CultureHeroes. Both aim to create opportunities for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) talent across the creative industries.

Discussing Davies' appointment, Moffatt said: “Davies is a rare type of modern leader who can build culture, shape new offerings and drive innovation, but importantly given his background he speaks the language of the broad spectrum of capabilities that Engine has to offer.

"He is a connector – of ideas, of people and of specialisms, and someone who knows how to get things done. His reputation precedes him, and I am excited to see what he can do with the firepower of a business like Engine behind him.”
